"Berlin was recorded on July 14, 2012 at Berlin's C-Club. In addition to pieces from the current album Travels In the Dustland, the set list includes various classics that are always played at the band's concerts. These include "The Light Will Stay On" (1996), "Bordertown" (1994) and "Jack Candy" and "Grand Theft Auto" (1993). So Berlin isn't just a live album, but in a certain way also a best of album, a snapshot that stands for many moments of The Walkabouts. The mood is good, the interplay is smooth, and the sound is adequate. Occasionally you catch yourself forgetting that this is a live recording, it all sounds so homey. That's the art of The Walkabouts - they play their music as something big in the family setting. The artwork has something nostalgic about it. And so the last releases (album, DVD review, live CD) seem a bit like a long, slow farewell with a view to the inevitable approach of the 30th band anniversary (in 2014). Then everything that remains would be done."
